Jupyter Community Workshop:
Jupyter for Science User Facilities and High Performance Computing11-13 June 2019Berkeley, California
Getting to NERSC at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
If you are flying into the Bay Area (San Francisco International Airport or Oakland International Airport) we recommend that you make your way to BART at either airport and then ride the train to Downtown Berkeley. The station is right in the middle of Berkeley and easy walking distance to several hotels. This website is maintained by LBNL and includes a number of options for getting to the Lab.
Bear in mind that access to the Lab site requires you to fill out the site access form. You should have done this when you registered, and received an email pass to bring with you to get on site. YOU MUST HAVE A PAPER COPY OF THAT FORM TO GET ON THE LAB SHUTTLE OR THROUGH THE GATE. We'll be reminding you of this every chance we get...
The Workshop on Tuesday and Wednesday will be held in Building 59 (Shyh Wang Hall). Here it is on the Lab's interactive map (sorry, no Jupyter notebook version yet). Take a Blue Uphill shuttle and get off at the Building 65 stop. Building 59 is the big blue-gray building directly across the road, overlooking the Bay. Here's a link to the Blue Lab Shuttle schedule and map.
Getting to the Berkeley Institute for Data Science on the UC Berkeley Campus
Here is the directions page for BIDS at Doe Memorial Library on the UC Berkeley Campus.
The Berkeley Lab Guest House
LBNL has a guest house on site. You can't beat the location for visiting the Lab (or the view), but getting to and from downtown Berkeley for dinner in the evening can take coordination. Click here for more information.
Let us know if you're having problems locating a nearby hotel. We can make recommendations. Here are a couple:
